    Why Train? Your 2012 Resolution

Go ahead. Stare January 2012 down with determination and energy:  Like many people, you will resolve to finally get in shape or hit the gym more than usual. And like most people, you’ll get through January and maybe part of February and then decide it’s too much, you don’t have time, or one of hundreds of other lame excuses.

Make 2012 the year you decide not to make any excuses. Training with Vixen Fitness NYC will provide more than just a snatched exterior.

Molly’s Top Six Reasons To Train With Vixen Fitness NYC:

    • Meet Your Trainer: If you’re looking for a trainer who works effectively without making you feel like a monkey, Molly is the one. We’ll both work hard to meet your goals, but Vixen Fitness NYC plays the game. You will laugh, you will sweat, and you will get where you want to go. Free of judgment or intimidation and full of respect, you can expect the best.
    • Accountability:  Training is a standing date. You know, the kind you make with other people – like getting together with your siblings every Christmas - or the kind you make with yourself, like deciding you’re going to get in shape and need to enlist a pro to help.  When your accountability requires you to connect with another person, it makes skipping that workout – or canceling on that reunion - a lot harder, and the more consistent you are with your training and the more you hold yourself accountable, the better your results.  Staying accountable is proof that you believe you’re worth the effort it will take to show up and work hard.
    • Attention: With a trainer, 100% of the focus is on you. You’ve got your own personal cheerleader with the eyes and mind of an educated professional at your service, leading you towards your goals while evaluating your technique & form to prevent bad habits & potential for injury.
    • Efficiency: No zoning on the treadmill with a magazine for 45 minutes, and no half-hearted attempts at jumping squats or deciding that 8 reps is plenty when you should really be doing 15. With a trainer, you’ll get a dynamic, challenging workout with clear instruction and positive encouragement through every minute of your session.  In short: you will work more efficiently with a trainer than you will without one.
    • Bangin’ Body = Clear Mind. Seriously, the benefits of mixing regular physical activity in to your daily schedule are too long to list, but this one is big: Physical health correlates with your mental health, and when your body feels awesome from a kick-ass training session, so do you.
    • (Lack of) Boredom: Remember that treadmill I mentioned? Never again. With a Vixen Fitness NYC trainer, your workouts are always innovative, creative and varied, and best of all, they’re built around you.

    Vixen Fitness NYC : Weddings

An inspiring story from Christina, whose bangin’ wedding bod was the result of 6 months of hard work with Vixen Fitness NYC.  Are you gearing up for your big day and want to look sleek and defined as you walk down the aisle?  Read on!

Christina Duffy Lehmann : Six Month Wedding Prep

In the seven months I spent training with Molly before my wedding in August 2011, I lost 35 pounds and 42 inches from my entire body. It was incredible and I feel fantastic!

I’ve had other workouts and have worked with other trainers, but Molly struck a chord with me and we had this harmonious workout relationship.

She really helped me focus on the positive changes I was going to make to my body for my wedding. Her strength, encouragement, guidance and patience helped me change into the healthiest, strongest person I could possibly be.

Molly’s thoroughness ensured that each training session accommodated for all aspects of my physical capability, and she was always ready to make adjustments or changes.

She followed me week after week, structuring every workout. Even when I couldn’t do something right away, there was always another great idea and a creative way Molly has to help me get there.

My wedding dress maker was in awe of how my body was transforming in front of her eyes each time I arrived for a fitting. Although it felt like a slow progression for the first month, my body started to change after I really started working at it and committed to training. I’ve stayed consistent now for 10 months!

For anyone getting married or anyone who wants to be in amazing shape, working with Molly is an invaluable experience and I could not imagine my life without her.   C. Duffy, Brooklyn

Well, Vixens - you asked to see some video vixen footage of Molly Winter Stewart, so here it is. You can catch me in this 2009 Chris Cornell music video for his single Part of Me, off the album Scream. MUSIC & EXERCISE

Want to know more about the benefits of combining music with exercise in a social atmosphere? Read on for a few key facts published in a study published by The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness:

    · Music boosts your spirits and reduces fatigue.

Benefit: Blasting good music makes busting your ass in our weekly fitness class waaaayyy more fun when you’ve got something that helps to motivate you.

    · In general, upbeat music with a strong beat and rhythm enhances cardiovascular exercise and motor coordination.

Benefit: The music’s rhythm—whether it is Madonna or the Red Hot Chili Peppers—encourages you to match your pace and time with that of the music’s tempo. Your heart rate increases as your body takes in the additional oxygen required for sustained activity, improving your aerobic cardiovascular endurance.

As for the cheering squad, although it might be hard to cheer while you’re on your yoga mat in a cobra plank, take heart: everyone around you is planking, too. Remember elementary school gym class? Even if you didn’t jump for joy playing Sheep & Wolves, you had a few buddies that always made the game more fun.

Athleticism and agility are sexy. No one will argue with this, and there’s nothing like watching the Women’s World Cup Final to help you appreciate the human body’s potential for greatness.
Even though most of us probably aren’t preparing for the life of a superstar soccer player, you should still prepare your body for your own life. Everyone benefits from getting regular exercise.

The city was full of Vixens on June 19th at Broadway Bares XXI, one of the biggest annual fundraisers for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights Aids.
This year’s performance, “Masterpiece!” raised over $1,000,000 to support national programs and organizations dedicated to AIDS awareness.
Your very own Vixen and favorite instructor, Molly, rocked the stage in a twisted “Degas” number, joined by other dancers from the casts of Broadway’s The Addams Family, Phantom of the Opera, and Chicago.  Check out our great cast photo!
